Pepper or piper negrum is a particularly rare spice, used as currency since the Middle Ages by Arab merchants. Its cultivation quickly spread to Sumatra and then to Vietnam, Brazil and Jamaica. Our black pepper is harvested in Vietnam, more precisely on the island of Phu Quoc. To get black pepper, the Piper Nigrum berry must be picked ripe and then dried until it reaches its dark color.
In addition to seasoning your dishes, black pepper has many health benefits. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory spice, especially if you mix it with turmeric, the effects of which it potentiates. Natural anti-bacterial, it is loaded with piperine which improves the bioavailability of nutrients and vitamins.
